- Spain introduced their adidas home jersey in November 2009 ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The design featured a traditional red base, yellow shoulder stripes, and blue accents inspired by earlier national team shirts. Under manager Vicente del Bosque, Spain entered the tournament as reigning European champions following their UEFA Euro 2008 victory. After an opening defeat to Switzerland, Spain defeated Honduras, Chile, Portugal, Paraguay, and Germany to reach their first FIFA World Cup final. On 11 July 2010, Spain faced the Netherlands at Soccer City in Johannesburg. Andrés Iniesta scored the decisive goal in the 116th minute, securing a 1–0 victory after extra time and Spain's first World Cup title. The squad featured Iker Casillas, Xavi, Iniesta, David Villa, Sergio Ramos, Carles Puyol, Gerard Piqué, Xabi Alonso, and Sergio Busquets. Villa finished the tournament with five goals, while Casillas captained the side and won the Golden Glove award. Spain's possession-based playing style became a defining feature of the tournament, and this red adidas jersey remains closely associated with the nation's historic World Cup triumph.
