- Manchester United's 2005/06 away jersey was produced by Nike using the Total 90 design template, combining a royal-blue body with distinctive red shoulder accents and white Vodafone sponsorship. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, United finished second in the Premier League behind Chelsea and won the Football League Cup, defeating Wigan Athletic 4–0 in the final at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. Wayne Rooney scored twice in that final, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Louis Saha added the other goals. The season also marked important changes within the squad, including the departure of long-serving captain Roy Keane and the arrival of defenders Nemanja Vidić and Patrice Evra in January 2006. Despite a group-stage exit from the UEFA Champions League, the campaign contributed to the development of the team that would reclaim the Premier League title the following season. This blue-and-red Nike shirt remains a recognizable design from Manchester United's mid-2000s transition.
