Under Arsène Wenger, Arsenal finished fourth in the 2008/09 Premier League and reached the UEFA Champions League semifinals, where Manchester United eliminated them 4–1 on aggregate. In 2009/10, Arsenal improved to third place in the Premier League and advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals before losing to Barcelona. Both campaigns took place during the club's early years at Emirates Stadium, with Cesc Fàbregas, Robin van Persie, and other members of Wenger's squad representing a period of transition and development. The two-season Nike design remains associated with Arsenal's late-2000s Premier League and European campaigns.
