- This long-sleeve jersey, from the adidas Originals heritage collection, marks 138 years since Celtic Football Club was founded on 6 November 1887 at St Mary's Church Hall in Glasgow's East End. The club was established by Brother Walfrid, an Irish Marist Brother born Andrew Kerins, who had been running soup kitchens for impoverished families in the area since 1884 and saw football as a way to raise the funds needed to sustain that charitable work.
- Celtic played their first match at the newly built Celtic Park in May 1888, a friendly against Rangers that Celtic won 5-2 in front of roughly 2,000 spectators. What began as a fundraising vehicle for the Poor Children's Dinner Table quickly grew into one of Scottish football's most successful and widely supported clubs, and the club continues Walfrid's charitable legacy today through the Celtic FC Foundation. This jersey, with its shamrock jacquard pattern and Celtic knot detailing, honors both that founding mission and the club's Irish heritage.
