- This home jersey belongs to one of the most chaotic seasons in Atletico Madrid's history. The club went through three different head coaches, starting with Claudio Ranieri before Radomir Antic, who had led the club to its historic league and cup double in 1996, returned for a second spell, followed by Fernando Zambrano taking over for the final matches. Off the pitch, controversial president Jesus Gil was temporarily removed amid a corruption investigation before regaining control.
- Despite Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink finishing the season as the club's top scorer with 24 league goals, one of the best totals in the division, Atletico's results collapsed and the club finished 19th, suffering only the second relegation from La Liga in its history. The disappointment was compounded by reaching the Copa del Rey final that same season, only to fall short there as well. Made by Reebok and sponsored by Marbella, this jersey is tied to one of the darkest campaigns in Atletico Madrid's history.
