- This home jersey was worn during Mexico's 1995 campaign under manager Bora Milutinovic, in his second stint in charge of the team. Having qualified as CONCACAF's representative by winning the 1993 Gold Cup, Mexico traveled to Saudi Arabia in January for the King Fahd Cup, a precursor tournament later retroactively recognized by FIFA as the Confederations Cup. Mexico beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 and drew 1-1 with Denmark to finish second in their group, before edging Nigeria on penalties in the third-place playoff after a 1-1 draw.
- Striker Luis Garcia finished as the tournament's top scorer with three goals, while eccentric goalkeeper Jorge Campos, known for his flamboyant style both in and out of goal, was voted the tournament's best goalkeeper. Later that year, Mexico also competed as an invited guest at the 1995 Copa America in Uruguay, beating Venezuela and drawing with hosts Uruguay before being eliminated by the United States on penalties in the quarter-finals.
