- This away jersey was worn during Colombia's qualifying campaign for the 1990 World Cup, a journey that included one of the most stunning results in the team's history: a 5-0 demolition of Argentina, the reigning world champions. Despite that result, Colombia finished third in their South American qualifying group behind Brazil and Uruguay, forcing a two-legged playoff against Oceania champions Israel. Colombia won the first leg 1-0 in Barranquilla and held out for a 0-0 draw in Ramat Gan to secure their place at the finals in Italy.
- Under manager Francisco Maturana, the team built its identity around goalkeeper Rene Higuita, whose adventurous 'sweeper-keeper' style, dribbling and passing far outside his penalty area, was virtually unheard of at the time and helped establish Colombia's fluid, attacking 'toque-toque' approach. Maturana later said that with Higuita in goal, Colombia effectively played with 11 outfield players. That daring style carried the team to their first World Cup knockout stage appearance since 1962, though it would also prove costly in their eventual exit. Made by adidas, this jersey is tied to the qualifying run behind one of Colombian football's most celebrated generations.
