The team's best run of the season came in the Coupe de la Ligue, where Lyon progressed through the rounds with wins over Dunkerque, Lille, Niort and Guingamp to reach the final at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
- In the final, Lyon faced FC Metz in a tightly fought match that finished goalless after extra time, forcing a penalty shootout. Metz held their nerve to win 5-4 on penalties, denying Lyon the trophy in heartbreaking fashion. Striker Florian Maurice was among the club's key attacking players that season, having finished among the league's top scorers in recent campaigns.
