- This away jersey was worn during the Netherlands' 1998 World Cup campaign in France under manager Guus Hiddink. A talented Dutch side, featuring Edwin van der Sar, Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf, Marc Overmars and Patrick Kluivert, progressed from their group after beating South Korea 5-0 and drawing with Belgium and Mexico, then edged past Yugoslavia in the second round thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Davids.
- The tournament's defining moment came in the quarter-final against Argentina in Marseille, where with the score tied 1-1 in the 90th minute, Dennis Bergkamp controlled a 70-yard pass from captain Frank de Boer with three sublime touches before finishing past goalkeeper Carlos Roa, a goal widely regarded as one of the greatest in World Cup history. The Netherlands were eliminated in the semi-final by Brazil on penalties after a 1-1 draw, and lost the third-place playoff to Croatia.
