- This away jersey belongs to Real Madrid's 2005-06 season, a turbulent campaign that marked the end of the original 'Galacticos' era. Manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo was sacked in December with the team in fourth place, replaced by Juan Ramon Lopez Caro, who guided a late recovery to second in La Liga, 12 points behind champions Barcelona. Ronaldo finished as the club's top scorer with 15 goals in all competitions, but the season's upheaval extended off the pitch when club president Florentino Perez resigned in February 2006.
- In Europe, Real Madrid were eliminated in the Champions League round of 16 by Arsenal, beaten by a single Thierry Henry goal across two legs, and were also knocked out of the Copa del Rey semi-finals by Real Zaragoza. It marked the club's first back-to-back trophyless seasons since the early 1980s, and effectively closed the chapter on the star-studded squad built around Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Roberto Carlos.
