Under manager Martin Jol, in his third full season in charge, Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League for the second consecutive year, securing UEFA Cup qualification, with new striker Dimitar Berbatov top-scoring with 23 goals in all competitions alongside strike partner Robbie Keane.
- The season also brought cup runs in the League Cup semi-finals, the FA Cup quarter-finals, and the UEFA Cup quarter-finals, where Spurs were eliminated by eventual winners Sevilla. It is also remembered for goalkeeper Paul Robinson's freak 80-yard goal against Watford, scored directly from a clearance.
