- This away jersey marks a landmark moment in football history: the first time FC Barcelona wore a sponsor logo on their shirt. Barcelona had gone decades playing without any commercial branding on the front, and rather than selling the space, the club struck a non-commercial agreement with UNICEF, even paying the charity for the right to display its name. The logo debuted on 12 September 2006 in a Champions League group match against Levski Sofia at the Camp Nou, which Barcelona won 5-0.
- On the pitch, the 2006-07 season proved a disappointing follow-up to the club's Champions League triumph the previous year. Under manager Frank Rijkaard, Barcelona led La Liga for much of the campaign but were overtaken by Real Madrid late on, finishing second on head-to-head record despite Ronaldinho's 21 league goals. The team, featuring a young Lionel Messi alongside Xavi and Andres Iniesta, also fell in the Champions League round of 16 and lost the FIFA Club World Cup final. Made by Nike, this orange away jersey remains historically significant as the shirt that began Barcelona's long-running Unicef partnership.
