- This home jersey belongs to AC Milan's 1996-97 season, one of the most turbulent in the club's modern history. As reigning Serie A champions following Fabio Capello's departure to Real Madrid, Milan brought in Oscar Tabarez and a raft of expensive new signings, including Edgar Davids, Christophe Dugarry and Michael Reiziger, none of whom settled. After losing the Supercoppa Italiana to Fiorentina and being eliminated from the Champions League by Rosenborg, Tabarez was sacked in December 1996 and former manager Arrigo Sacchi returned to try to steady the team.
- Despite Sacchi's efforts, Milan slumped to a shocking 11th-place finish, including a 1-6 home defeat to Juventus, with George Weah finishing as the club's top scorer with 13 league goals. Made by Lotto, the jersey keeps Milan's classic red and black stripes and single gold star, paired with the OPEL sponsor that backed the club's shirt through the decade. As the kit worn during one of Milan's most dramatic collapses from champions to mid-table, this jersey holds particular interest for collectors of the club's turbulent 1990s history.

The shirt has traditional red and black vertical stripes with a black V-neck collar trimmed in red and white stripes. A white embroidered lotto diamond logo sits on the left chest, with the oval AC Milan crest, red and black with a white cross and the text MILAN 1899, positioned on the right chest beneath a single gold star. A large white OPEL wordmark with the circular Opel logo above it is printed across the center chest. Red and black ribbed cuffs trim the sleeve ends.
