- This away jersey belongs to Manchester City's 1998-99 season, their first ever campaign in the third tier of English football after back-to-back relegations from the Premier League. Under manager Joe Royle, City endured a difficult start before rallying to finish third in the old Division Two and reach the play-offs, where they beat Wigan Athletic in the semi-finals to set up a final against Gillingham at Wembley. Shaun Goater led the line as the club's top scorer with 17 league goals.
- The play-off final itself became one of the most famous matches in the club's history: trailing 2-0 with three minutes of normal time remaining, City scored twice through Kevin Horlock and a stoppage-time Paul Dickov equaliser, before goalkeeper Nicky Weaver's penalty shootout heroics sealed a 3-1 win and secured promotion back to Division One. Made by Kappa, the jersey pairs a bold neon yellow and black stripe design with the Brother sponsor, and remains one of the most iconic and celebrated shirts among Manchester City collectors for its association with the Wembley '99 comeback.
