- This home jersey was introduced in 1994, the year France appointed Aime Jacquet as permanent head coach following the national trauma of missing the 1994 World Cup, having been eliminated by Bulgaria and Israel in qualifying. Wearing this jersey, a 22-year-old Zinedine Zidane made his France debut in August 1994 against the Czech Republic, scoring twice after coming on as a substitute to rescue a draw. Over the following two seasons, Jacquet built his squad around Zidane and other emerging players, guiding France to Euro 96 unbeaten through qualifying, finishing runners-up in their group to Romania while conceding just two goals.
- Made by adidas, the jersey is part of the brand's famous 1994 diamond template, also worn by teams including Germany and Spain, distinguished here by a red and white zigzag panel running down one side and adidas three-stripe trim on the shoulders. It carries the French Federation's gold rooster crest on the chest. Worn through France's rebuilding period after the Bulgaria heartbreak and into their run to the Euro 96 semi-finals, this jersey captures the beginning of the Zidane era and remains a highly collectible piece of 1990s Les Bleus history.
