- Kappa became Barcelona's kit manufacturer in 1992, taking over from Meyba, and the partnership introduced a series of distinctive designs through the 1990s, including this shirt's signature black shoulder tape featuring the brand's repeating logo motif, a look widely associated with Kappa kits of the era.
- The 1997/98 season saw Barcelona compete under new manager Louis van Gaal, who led the club to a domestic double that year. The Kappa partnership continued until 1998, after which the club moved to Nike, closing out this particular chapter of Barcelona's kit history.

Bold vertical stripes in blue and red run across the body, each outlined with a thin navy pinstripe, with a faint tonal jacquard pattern of "Barça" script and the club crest repeating throughout the fabric. A crew-neck collar in navy carries "F.C. Barcelona" in red lettering along the inner trim, while black shoulder panels printed with the repeating Kappa "Omini" logo run down each arm. The Kappa wordmark and logo sit on the left chest, opposite the Barcelona crest, with a red "Barça" script logo centred just below the collar.
