- The 2001/02 season fell within Barcelona's kit partnership with Nike, which had begun in 1998 and introduced a series of experimental away colourways alongside the club's traditional blue and garnet home stripes. This gold away shirt stood out as one of the more distinctive designs of the period.

Solid gold body with a shimmering satin-like sheen, broken by a wide navy vertical panel running down the centre front, flanked by a thin royal blue stripe on one side and a red stripe on the other. A gold v-neck collar with a navy trim and diagonal cut placket tops the design, with matching navy piping on the cuffs of the short sleeves. The Barcelona crest sits within the navy panel above a white Nike swoosh, both centred on the chest rather than offset to one side.
