Product Stats
- Blue has long been the defining colour of the Japanese national team, giving rise to its popular nickname, Samurai Blue. For the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, adidas paired the traditional shade with a tonal patterned front and a bold red centre panel inspired by the national flag.
- The tournament marked a breakthrough for Japan, who reached the knockout stage at a World Cup held outside their home country for the first time before bowing out to Paraguay on penalties in the round of 16. Months later, the team built on that progress by winning the 2011 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar, making this kit a symbol of a successful era for Japanese football.
