Product Stats
- Argentina wore this adidas home design during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, combining the national team's traditional sky-blue and white stripes with black shoulder detailing and curved gold piping. The AFA crest featured two stars representing Argentina's 1978 and 1986 World Cup victories. Managed by José Pékerman, Argentina topped Group C after defeating Ivory Coast 2–1, Serbia and Montenegro 6–0, and drawing 0–0 with the Netherlands. The squad included Juan Román Riquelme, Hernán Crespo, Javier Saviola, Lionel Messi, Carlos Tévez, Javier Mascherano, and Juan Pablo Sorín. The 6–0 victory over Serbia and Montenegro featured a celebrated 24-pass team goal finished by Esteban Cambiasso.
- Argentina defeated Mexico 2–1 after extra time in the round of 16, with Maxi Rodríguez scoring a memorable winning volley. In the quarterfinal against host nation Germany, Roberto Ayala gave Argentina the lead before Miroslav Klose equalized. The match ended 1–1 after extra time, and Germany won the penalty shootout 4–2. Argentina's campaign ended in the quarterfinals despite an unbeaten record across regulation and extra time. The tournament also marked Lionel Messi's first World Cup appearance, while Riquelme played an influential creative role in midfield. This sky-blue-and-white adidas design remains associated with one of Argentina's most technically accomplished squads of the 2000s.
