Müller became the team's principal shirt sponsor during the 1993/94 campaign, giving the design its recognizable red sponsor panel. Aston Villa finished tenth in the 1993/94 Premier League but enjoyed significant domestic cup success, defeating Manchester United 3–1 in the Football League Cup final at Wembley Stadium in March 1994. This secured the club's fourth League Cup title. The following 1994/95 campaign proved more difficult, with Villa finishing 18th in the Premier League and narrowly avoiding relegation. Despite contrasting league performances, the ASICS shirt remains associated with a major cup triumph and the expressive styling of early-1990s English soccer.
