- Argentina won the 1986 World Cup in Mexico under coach Carlos Bilardo, beating West Germany 3-2 in the final at the Estadio Azteca. This blue away shirt is linked to the most famous match of the tournament, the quarter-final against England on 22 June 1986. As widely told, the team's original blue shirts were considered too heavy for the Mexican heat, so lighter shirts were sourced in Mexico City shortly before the game, with the crest and numbers added by hand. In that match, Diego Maradona scored both goals in a 2-1 win, the first the infamous "Hand of God" and the second a solo run past half the England team later voted the Goal of the Century.
