Product Stats
- Argentina went to the 2006 World Cup in Germany under José Pékerman with a talented squad built around playmaker Juan Román Riquelme. They topped their group with wins over Côte d'Ivoire and Serbia and Montenegro and a draw with the Netherlands, then beat Mexico 2-1 after extra time in the round of 16. In the quarter-final in Berlin, they drew 1-1 with hosts Germany and were eliminated on penalties.
- Lionel Messi wore the number 19 shirt and was 18 years old at the start of the tournament. He made his World Cup debut as a substitute in the 6-0 win over Serbia and Montenegro on 16 June 2006, setting up a goal for Hernán Crespo and then scoring the sixth himself, becoming the youngest Argentine to score at a World Cup at the time. He started the final group game against the Netherlands and came on as a substitute against Mexico, but did not play in the quarter-final against Germany, a decision that is still debated by Argentine fans.
- This home shirt uses adidas's distinctive 2006 template, with curved side panels and gold piping framing the classic sky blue and white stripes, while the two-star crest marks the 1978 and 1986 World Cup titles. As the shirt from Messi's first World Cup, it marks the beginning of a journey that would end with the trophy in Qatar in 2022. It appeals to Argentina supporters, Messi fans, World Cup collectors and anyone who wants a shirt from the earliest chapter of his international career.
