- The 1988-89 season is one of the greatest in Inter's history. Under Giovanni Trapattoni, the Nerazzurri won the Scudetto with a record 58 points under the two-points-for-a-win system. They lost only twice all season and finished well clear of Napoli and Milan. It was Inter's 13th league title, built on a solid defence led by Walter Zenga and Giuseppe Bergomi and a strong German core in midfield and defence.
- Lothar Matthäus joined from Bayern Munich in 1988 and immediately took the number 10 shirt. The German midfielder brought power, leadership and goals from midfield, forming a key partnership with fellow countryman Andreas Brehme. His impact in his debut season was decisive in the title race. He later captained West Germany to the 1990 World Cup and won the Ballon d'Or that year, making his early Inter years a crucial chapter in his career.
- This home shirt is especially valued by collectors because it is the only season to feature the biscione snake crest. For 1989-90 the club wore the Scudetto shield on the chest, and from 1990-91 it returned to a more traditional badge. The bold black and blue stripes, uhlsport logo patch and Misura sponsor complete a classic late-1980s Serie A look. It appeals to Inter supporters, Matthäus and Germany fans, Serie A history collectors and anyone collecting rare one-season crest designs.
